It strikes me that many medium-sized and family businesses in the agri-business hardly report at all about their commitment to sustainability. That should change because:
On the one hand, the legal framework for sustainable management is continuously tightening for more and more companies. On the other hand, more and more people in the company and its environment expect a more sustainable way of doing business. Banks and major customers in the EU are forced to demand comprehensive sustainability reporting from their business partners and suppliers due to obligations that apply to them (EU taxonomy, EU-CRSD, etc.). But not only the legal pressure, but also the realization that it is part of the responsibility of companies in the agricultural sector towards all stakeholder groups to take care of the sustainability of their own business, should be a motivation to get involved in the development of sustainability strategies in a structured way.
My offer: Do the sustainability check with me. Based on the procedure of the ZNU standard, we can process a checklist with all sustainability aspects in a workshop. In doing so, we check: Where is your company already well positioned and which sustainability aspects require particular action? I will then create a summary of your status of sustainability based on the results.
If you deduce from this that it makes sense for your company to develop a sustainability strategy, I can support you further. The next steps according to the ZNU standard are:
- The analysis of your stakeholder groups and their demands on your company
- The screening of sustainability hotspots in the value chains of your most important products
- Clustering and, derived from this, the creation of a materiality matrix of your most important fields of action in sustainability management
- The development of your individual sustainability strategy for your entire organization
Prepared in this way, you can start evaluating your measures for sustainable management, e.g. by EcoVadis, or in certification, e.g. by the ZNU standard. Would you like to find out more about this: Contact me via my LinkedIn account, by email info@torsten-spill.de or by phone +49 172 289 88 77.
