Acceptance of change through growth: What can coaching achieve?

The American writer Francis Paul Wilson has already stated: “Only those who accept change can grow.” If management is fully focused on achieving growth goals, it runs the risk of overburdening people involved. To reduce this risk, a coaching program for entrepreneurs, management and key employees, who want to lead a growth initiative to success, is a promising approach. The company management often has a high level of euphoria and energy to implement the growth strategies. In workshops, measures are decided, budgets made available and project groups established. The subject of “being overwhelmed by oneself and the organization” is often not on the agenda. Here coaching can help to strengthen self-reflection. How exactly, read here:

Accompanying growth initiatives through coaching

1. What do I understand by coaching?

Coaching is a person-centered support process in which professional as well as private topics are solution-oriented worked-through. As your coach, I will accompany you as my client based on a developed concept and my psychological competence at eye level. With mutual acceptance, I control your solution process with transparency and confidentiality. In doing so, I stimulate increased self-reflection through individually tailored questioning techniques and other methods and promote your self-control skills. As I see it, coaching is a means of helping people to help themselves (not advice), because you, as my client, may reevaluate your challenges and problems from different perspectives and decide for yourself measures that you would not have explored on your own before. Therefore, the goal of the coach is to make himself redundant at the end of the process. The coaching process is therefore limited in time.

2. Excessive demands as a major risk for the success of growth?

Initiators of growth projects for organizations often know very well the chances of the measures which are to be implemented in order to achieve expansion goals. Dedicated entrepreneurs and managers know how to define growth targets with a market overview and strategic foresight. Calculating appropriate investment budgets and providing the necessary financial resources often costs a lot of energy and commitment. Once the decision has been made, well-prepared workshops are held with the employees involved and, if necessary, business partners, for deciding implementation measures and setting up project groups. The growth initiative starts. Employees, managers and entrepreneurs are now personally challenged. Implementing growth alongside existing business costs additional energy and resources. High initial motivation from all growth initiators leads to more and more demands on themselves and those involved. Often unnoticed, this is where affected team members become overwhelmed. Sometimes it is too late to take countermeasures at this point, the growth initiative threatens to fail.

3. What can coaching do for growth initiatives?

Already in the initiative phase of growth projects, coaching can give entrepreneurs, executives and involved employees the necessary self-reflection to reduce the later risk of being overwhelmed for the organization, staff, and themselves. By opening the perception of these clients of their own capacities and those of the employees and business partners with the coach, it is possible to develop strategies themselves to avoid being overwhelmed. In the later phase of growth implementation, affected key employees can be strengthened by coaching to protect themselves and their surroundings from being overwhelmed. At this point, coaching is also an active burnout prevention.

4. How do I implement coaching in your growth initiative?

If you are planning an expansion measure for your organization, I will accompany the initiators as a growth coach from the beginning. First, I take part in the workshops or management meetings on growth strategy development as a listener to get to know the people and their roles. It is not my job to advise you strategically in this process. If requested, I will give you input on the risk of excessive overwhelming and burnout prevention for initiatively acting people. Then the coaching of the people involved begins. In 5-10 two-hour sessions I carry out the coaching with each individual, centered and tailored to the respective needs of the person. This client determines the content of his / her own coaching process regarding the expansion project. The content and personal results remain confidential between the client and the coach. The client decides which content should be shared with the other project participants. In this way I achieve increased self-reflection and self-control competence of all people acting in growth. The changes in the cooperation in the growth process come from the coached people themselves.

My coaching can help everyone involved in your growth initiative to better accept the changes in your expansion and thus not stand in the way of your growth goal.

Growth coaching supports your expansion success!
