The entrepreneur and former President of German Chamber of Commerce Eric Schweitzer said “Thinking about the end of everything you do, is sustainability.” I see this widely used term as the basis for the future growth of medium-sized companies. How I meet the challenges of sustainability thinking in medium-sized and family-owned companies, primarily in the agricultural and food sector, I would like to go into more detail in a regular newsletter. In addition to the findings as a coach and political companion in voluntary work, I will take a stand on current topics and provide insights behind my scenes, initially only in German.
In the first newsletter next week, I am starting, among other things, a series of analysis of the results of the German Future Commission in Agriculture for all sectors in agribusiness and dealing with value chain strategies as a growth engine for medium-sized companies. 1.Topics of newsletter no. 1
Start of a series of articles to analyze the results of the Agriculture Future Commission
On June 29, 2021, the “Agriculture Future Commission” commissioned by the German Federal Government presented its unanimously approved final report. Due to the many other events such as corona, flood disasters, the Afghanistan crisis and others, this sensation has received too little attention from the general public, although a change in paradigm for society as a whole was unanimously decided. It is so sensational because all the social groups involved in the agricultural and food system have come to a common conclusion. Environmental and consumer NGOs, representatives of farmers, the rural population, the agri-food industry and science have found a consensus on what society, under the leadership of a new federal government, has to do for an “agricultural turnaround“. In the first newsletter I give an overview of the general statements of the final report and the consequences that can be derived from it for the associations and companies in the agricultural sector. In the following newsletters I will go into specific changes for individual sectors in the agri-business and make initial suggestions on how to counter these.
A look behind the scenes: my coaching room is ready
Growth through value chain strategies
I am convinced: The “sustainable thinking” often invoked in family businesses is no longer sufficient in today’s times of upheaval. As an entrepreneur, taking care of the concerns of employees, family members, customers and suppliers in order to maintain a sustainable relationship in the interests of the company’s success is no longer enough in my opinion. The complete value chain begins with the extraction or primary production of raw materials and ends with the creation of benefits for the end consumer. As a medium-sized company in this chain, I can only grow in the future if I coordinate my own added value with all links in the chain. I have added some aspects to my already published blog on this topic.
Creation of a study: Growth through change through Corona – Change through growth after Corona
What have I decided to do? I would like to prepare a best practice study on business model changes in companies due to the Corona crisis by autumn. For this I need even more entrepreneurs who will tell me their success stories during and after Corona in interviews. You will find a call for this in the first newsletter.
